HOLE BY HOLE GUIDE
HOLE 10
BACK TEES DISTANCE : 360 YDS
CLUB TEES DISTANCE : 338 YDS
LADIES TEES DISTANCE : 279 YDS
PAR : 4
SI : 5
WATER :
None
OUT OF BOUNDS :
None
BUNKERS :
2 Extremely well positioned bunkers in the front left and right of the green. They aren't the deepest bunkers in the world but you will more than likely be hitting a ball that's above/below your feet depending on what side you have a whack with. Stay out of the sand here.
TREES :
They shouldn't come into play here but there's a few on the left side of the fairway and a few behind the green. You shouldn't be worried though. The fairway's nice and wide while if you end up in the trees in the back a few lessons and a pair of glasses wouldn't go a miss.
TEE SHOT :
This is a tricky tee shot to a certain degree to the extent that it's blind with a fair drop off at the opposite side of the crest so you could say it's a slight shot in the dark as the bumps and hollows on the far side could lead to an extremely tricky shot to the green.
APPROACH SHOT :
Don't be fooled into thinking this is a handy shot onto the green. There's a few dangers that you have to traverse before you get out your putter. First thing is the optical illusion that it's a straight forward short shot. Take into account the extreme dip in front of the bunkers if you plan to run it. Also if you've encountered it by virtue of landing over the hill you will more than likely be testing your hurling skills with your next shot due to the carefully positioned bumps and mounds. Not an easy shot from here but make sure that you don't go over the back of the green.
GREEN OVERVIEW :
This is a relatively flat green but it does slope signifcantly off the edges with a large drop off the back that you will only discover if you've chased it through.
OVERALL TIPS :
This is a terrific test of your golfing skills or lack of same in my case. This hole would be more akin to a links course with it's bumps and hollows or throw a few hundred trees in and it's the Ennis version of an Augusta National hole with the only shot that you have a decent lie relative to your feet is the tee shot. Basic tips here are to try if you can to keep on the left hand side of the fairway which will give you a slightly better angle to the green. If you can try to lay it up around where the white marker in the fairway is you should be in a good position. Anything to further forward will leave you a short but tricky approach. Once you're on the green the hard work is pretty much done. The green is fairly slick but not overly complicated. If you're not too greedy with a decent gauge for pace you should walk away with a two-putt. It's a tricky hole if played too aggressively on any of the shots so be cautious here.
