HOLE 2

BACK TEES DISTANCE : 534 YDS

CLUB TEES DISTANCE: 510 YDS

LADIES TEES DISTANCE: 484 YDS

PAR : 5

SI : 14

WATER:
None

OUT OF BOUNDS :
Sort of, don't end up in someone's tea on the balcony of the clubhouse or in the boot of a car in the car park on the left let alone dicing with the fish in the aquarium on the right.

BUNKERS :
If you use your fingers to count then your using the full complement. Yes, there's 10 on this hole. All very welcoming and waiting for you to pay a visit. There's 2 at the front left of the fairway in the driving line, another 2 again in tandem further up on the right hand side for those who are afraid of those on the left. Once you take the dog leg to the right and your looking forward to laying up before the green you've the lay up area created by a sadist. There's a bunker on the left hand side right in the lay up area with a small one parallel to the right. Then there's another one on the right just before the previous one. Moving ahead to the greenside bunkers which are just in front of the lay up sand traps we have 3 bucket and spade pits here. There's one to the front left of the green which could be counted as an approach bunker but we'll give it greenside status as we will the one on the front right which is parallel to the left hand side bunker and just in front of the previous right hand side one. I know, it's probably confusing but bear with me. There's one last one to the right hand middle of the green. Each one dangerous pit bunkers that will cost you shots. Phew!!! I need a break after that. You will too if you land in these.

TREES :
None

TEE SHOT:
This is a tricky one. I suppose the best advice is to aim to the left of the left hand bunkers and have a go at flying it. If you want to play it very safe hit a tame one to the right of these. Don't take on the right hand side sand. For the best chance of a good angle for the 2nd shot aim the first well left if you have the distance to get it over the bunkers. This will take the plateaus on the fairway out of play to a certain degree..

APPROACH SHOT:
If the wind is at your back and you fancy you fancy your chances going for the green in 2 be very careful. You're taking on a hell of a lot of sand. The positive thing is that you're downhill all the way so if you want to take a run at it you can. You have to be inch perfect here. The best tactic here would be to aim for the left hand greenside bunker and fade it to try and take away the risk of the other line of sand. If you aim to the right of the green you'll be dicing with danger. If you need to lay up lay up left but accuracy is important here also. It's not just hacking for an easy option. I hate to re-emphasize the point but if you aim to the right side your going to be playing chicken with the sand. Try to land it in the dark green area that's cut relatively not the fawn grainy substance. Then this should give you a relatively clear path to the green and it's up to you from there.

GREEN OVERVIEW :
This is a right beauty. There's more swells here than on an Under 16's Rugby team after taking on the All Blacks. As you approach the green you will see the green slopes uphill slightly. You will see too dips to the left and notice the back right of the green is slight out of view. The back right of the green flows down to a relatively steep drop. The back left slopes up to a mound. On the left hand side just above half way at the back you've got a dip that is akin to a small abyss (slight exaggeration I know). There's a smaller dip on the front left and another dip between the greenside bunker on the right and the green. These dips and swells cut into the green and there's a strip of green carved up the middle that is flat enough but you would want to have a magnifying lense to see it. It's a very tricky green as you have probably gathered by now.

OVERALL TIPS :
To think that this is one of the easier holes on the course. For those who are feint hearted at the prospect of worse to come the clubhouse is beside you should you wish to escape. But for those who love a good challenge it's only a warmup act. Try to drive it over the left hand bunkers. This should give you decent fairway position. It's best not to go gung ho as the bunkers are blind for your second shot unless your up on the hill on right hand side rough. If you choose to lay up try to stay realtively left but keep it safely in the middle. The safest shot is to lay up short of all the bunkers. You need to get close enough to the pin here because if your left with anything of a long putt be prepared for a putt that breaks in all different ways. A par is possible if played well and sensibly. Risks have rewards here if played very well but be careful unless you're a very low handicapper.
