WATER :
There's a bit of a wet marsh that shouldn't come into play unless you completely slice the ball off of the tee so don't worry too much about it.
OUT OF BOUNDS :
The usual bit of conservation ground on the left for a little bit but not as much of an issue as previous holes and in behind the wall up towards the right of the green.
BUNKERS :
Not as many as the rest of the holes here. There's 6 on this hole all down the left side. 3 deep pot bunkers dug into the ground on the left of the fairway that will keep your mind occupied from the tee then two in front of the left side of the green the one blind over the front left portion of the green. This one will gobble up any ball from a player who tries to play it safe and avoid the wall on the right.
TREES :
None
TEE SHOT :
This is the shortest Par 4 on the course but it does need some serious accuracy as the shortage of yards in length is equalled in the shortage of yards in width. It's best to play this patiently and just try to lob it short of the three fairway bunkers and slightly to the right (you don't want to run out of fairway) so that you can get a good angle into the green. Anything left will cut off your angles to the green and make a second extremely dicey, anything too far right and you would have a better chance finding Jimmy Hoffa than your ball.
APPROACH SHOT :
This should be a tricky uphill shot to a narrow green protected by a blind bunker to where you should think that the green extends but the part that you see front left doesn't stretch too far back so keep it on the right hand side of the green if you don't fancy your distances. It's a tricky little shot from a good position on the fairway. Anything offline and it a whole load of fun.
GREEN OVERVIEW :
This isn't too bad here really. It's slightly uphill all the way on the top of a plateau so if you go over the edge at any point it's a steep fall. The hard work is done once you've got onto the green but at the same time don't go to town once onto the dance floor.
OVERALL TIPS :
Keep it where you can see it here and don't be too brave. This hole can be taken on without too much elbow grease but while you get a bit of relief distance wise you need to keep your wits about you when it comes to keeping the ball in the short stuff. The golden rule here is don't go offline. Anything off the fairway or the green is big trouble. Keep in mind the position of the hidden bunker at the back left of the green as I'm sure that will catch out many a Doonbeg rookie who decides not to use a strokesaver or a caddy and thinks they have a beautiful shot and walks up with a putter in hand only to get a shock once they see they need a shovel and spade. Keep it simple enough here and you have a chance of grabbing a birdie but you would take a Par if given before you stand on the tee here. It's not the worst but it's tricky enough.
