WATER:
Just in front of the green well below green level you have a nice little pond in a terrific position to catch those who try to bite off a bit more than they can chew here. It's definitly something you have to take into your calculations and also comes into play if you decide to lay up and hit the downslope. There's a little stream that goes right from that pond and that could take a few by surprise but this is a feature of this hole that really comes into play.
OUT OF BOUNDS :
If you go way off right into the farmers field you won't be allowed to take a shot from there. Apart from that it's fair game.
BUNKERS :
3 tricky greenside pot bunkers that aren't huge but are extremely tricky. 2 are on the left and there's one on the right of the green.
TREES :
None
TEE SHOT :
The fairway snakes slightly like a lefthand dogleg so take that into account when you are teeing up here. Because of the hill here you really do need to make the most of your tee shot. It's not the toughest tee shot in the world but really you have to make some serious distance to create an easier opening for the second to the green. A poor tee shot will take the green completely out of play.
APPROACH SHOT :
A bit like the previous hole this is dependant on your position in the fairway. You'll be faced with a very tricky shot that could be on a downhill slope with a nasty pond lurking just in front of the green. The depth perception is important here as you will be coming from a tricky height. You need to be 100% sure that you will get the distance or else you are better off laying up. Leave plenty space to lay up because the dowhill slope will take your ball into the water if you get too close for comfort. From a layup you will be looking at a relatively standard chip onto the green. An up and down wouldn't be impossible from in front of the pond but getting down in 3 from there wouldn't be the end of the world.
GREEN OVERVIEW :
It's a green that slopes upwards from the front to back with a steep enough slope at the very back. There are a few little mounds off little hills to the left and right of the green but really start your aim straight at your hole with slight alterations but really you won't be going more than an inch outside the hole in break here.
OVERALL TIPS :
Not satisfied with the nightmare previous 5th hole the 6th is here to really give you another serious test. At this stage if you're going badly you might think of calling a day because this hole won't give you any respite. Even if the wind is behind you here the undulations of this hole and the position of the pond will guarantee a tough second. If you come in from the right hand side of the fairway the green opens up a bit but you really need to make sure that you are able to make the distance to the green because otherwise you will be splashing. This is another damage limitation hole so if you do bogey this then be pretty pleased it wasn't worse. Don't be afraid to play this sensibly and lay up before the green and try to pitch the approach close. It's not an impossible hole but you'll have earned anything you get on this hole. The wind here will play a huge part in this hole as it may whip right across the fairway from left to right. If you are playing into the wind here it becomes like a par 5. The good thing is that once you've these two holes done it's all easier from here.
