BRIEF HISTORY :
Kilrush Golf Club was founded in 1934 but was redesigned in 1994 and the improvements have worked a charm. The architect used the natural terrain to provide some testing holes and added some well placed water, sand traps and trees to severely test the club golfer. The calendar hole here is the 9th. It's a tee shot from way up high down to a picturesque green with a lovely pond and rockery around the front which won't be too nice if you end up in it. The club has been described as "Possibly the friendliest club in Ireland" and my experience with the club I would be inclined to agree. On a windy day it's a very tough test especially at the highest point of the course. The scenery around is breathtaking on a clear day. You can see the River Shannon, the Kerry mountains and further out the coast the Atlantic Ocean. The location of the course within only a few miles of Lahinch, Doonbeg, and Kilkee with the other Clare courses only down the main Ennis road and with Ballybunion only a car ferry away this is an ideal leg of a golfing tour of the mid west.

1/2 mile from Kilrush on N68 from Ennis. It's less than 1 hour from Shannon.
SCENERY :
Terrific views of lakes, the Shannon Estuary and the Kerry mountains on one side of the course then on the part that looks north you can see up the west coast to the Atlantic and views of the countryside with Doonbeg Golf Club in the distance.
